advisor:
"dear sonia. I read your essay,
and I find it quite good. I think you have made a good choice because the two
artworks have in fact things in common and do offer hints for interesting
analysis.
maybe what's missing is a
"formal" reading of the two artworks: in particular it's evident that
they are both very "frontal" and very much based on the gaze, so I
would have added some words on the meaning of frontality (for instance what is
the relation of frontality with politics, political statements etc.?) as well
as the possible function of the artwork as a mirror (each of us is Frida, each
of us is Emerita) or as something that is actively looking at the viewer (the
artwork as an agent, or an active device).
anyway, the essay is good.
